    BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, MARCH 27TH 2006 - St. Kitts and Nevis will be represented at the 3rd OECS Council of Tourism Ministers in Dominica.

    Christine Walwyn will attend the March 29th to 31st meeting which will discuss  Cricket World Cup 2007, the merits of harmonisation of tourism incentives frameworks and the development of tourism standards.

     

    The  OECS Tourism Ministers will be joined by their counterparts from Saba, St. Eustatius, St. Maarten and Martinique.

     

    According to the St. Lucia-based OECS Secretariat, presentations on the OECS participation at the Grand Pavois Boat Show held in September 2005, plans for celebrating the 25th anniversary of the creation of the OECS, and approaches to joint marketing will also be discussed.

     

    The Tourism Ministers meeting will also feature a presentation by the Secretary General of the Caribbean Tourism Organisation, Mr. Vincent Vanderpool-Wallace.  His presentation will focus on possibilities for further collaboration between the Caribbean's leading tourism organisation and OECS Member States.

     

    Antigua and Barbuda's Tourism Minister, Hon. Harold Lovell, will preside over the two day meeting at which representatives from the St. Kitts-based Eastern Caribbean Central Bank and local tourism stakeholders in Dominica will also be in attendance.

     

    The OECS Council of Tourism Ministers will be preceded by a meeting of OECS Directors of Tourism who serve as the technical advisory committee (TAC) to the ministers.  The conclusions of the Directors deliberations will be presented to the Ministers as recommendations for endorsement.
