CHARLESTOWN, Nevis- As part of its annual sports meet, the Charlestown Primary School held the second leg of its cross country road run this morning (Feb. 11).
The race was held for grade three to six pupils. Uniqueko Willett of Red House, who is the defending champion for the junior girls, regained her championship , while Javani Tyson, also of Red, won for the junior boys.
In a time of 5:52.38 Willett breasted the tape before her closet opponents, Monique Daniel of Green House and Shevelle Phillip of Blue, crossed the finish in times of 6:02.24 and 6:11.59, respectively.
Winning for the boys with a time of 5:43.41 was Red House athlete Tyson. Coming in a close second place was fellow Red House athlete Austin Bart with a time of 5:44.51, while Blue House’s Jamie Robinson came in third place with a time of 6:00.68.
Present to witness the event was Theron Murrain, a past student of the school who will be the patron for the annual sports meet scheduled to take place on March 3 at the Elquimeado Willet Park in Charlestown.
