CHÉ Magazine launches second issue

CHÉ Magazine Press Release

AUZONVILLE, Tunapuna- CHÉ Magazine, Trinidad and Tobago’s first glossy magazine to exclusively discuss gender roles, is pleased to announce that its second issue themed “Battle of the Sexes: Love and War” launched on Friday February 5th, 2010 at the University of the West Indies (UWI) Student Activity Centre.

The magazine which focuses on the conflicts resulting from our basic differences as men and women first launched its inaugural issue on September 4th, 2009 at the UWI Student Activity Centre (SAC).

On Friday the publication launched its second issue which featured Soca sensation Bunji Garlin on issues such as his personal struggles, the move to ban ‘Banana’, the Gaza/Gully Peace Treaty and on his marriage to Soca powerhouse the ‘Silver Surfer’ Fay-Ann Lyons-Alvarez.

Also, for Valentine’s Day it ran a feature entitled “Battle of the Sexes: Love and War” which focused on romantic relationships and questioned why men and women tend to approach relationships as a battle or power struggle instead of as a partnership.

“To my mind relationships should be about partnership instead of a battleship. Too many persons are influenced by media portrayals of chic trendy game playing and apply these sensationalized ideals to their real lives without considering the context from which the advice is spewed. Entertainment programs don’t offer a perspective on real life where domestic disputes often end in fatality,” said Ms. Claudia Liburd, Editor-in-Chief at CHÉ Magazine.

Currently, CHÉ Magazine is on sale at UWI Bookshop in St. Augustine, Trinity Hall on UWI campus, Charran’s Bookstore in Tunapuna, Creative Document Clinic in Tunapuna, Your Way Salon as well as B. Thomas’ Newsstand on the apron of Citygate in Port-of-Spain.
