Jamaica to implement laws for sagging pants

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE Jamaica government has moved from cracking down on the explicit lyrics some of the artistes produced to targeting men who wear their pants below their ‘butt cheeks’.

According to 876radio.com, government and the police are now looking at implementing measures and possible fines to stem the current trend of sagging pants being worn predominantly by Jamaican young men.

The media house further stated that according to several government officials, the act is very distasteful and shows a lack of proper decorum and a breakdown of morals in the society. Measures need to be implemented to curb this spiraling negative trend.

“If the proper documentations are implemented the move could see people being fined or even hauled before the courts for wearing their pants too low while in the public arena,” 876radio added.

Many people are in agreement with the Jamaican government and are of the opinion that this should have taken effect a long time ago. It is also believed by many that Caribbean nationals are adopting North American trends.

With all this said and with the current situation in which many young men are adopting foreign dress codes and trends, do you think that the St. Kitts government should take a page from the Jamaica government’s book and implement this law as well?
