BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, MARCH 31ST 2006 - Members of the Royal St.
Christopher and Nevis Police Force and the St. Kitts-Nevis Defence Force are in Jamaica, among over 1,000 Caribbean police and soldiers being trained by U.S. and British forces as part of security preparations for next year's Cricket World Cup.
The St. Kitts and Nevis lawmen and their counterparts from 15 other Caribbean nations are learning about crowd control, mass casualty evacuation, internal security, venue protection and counterterrorism.
About 500 U.S. American troops are in Jamaica for the annual regional training exercise, known as Tradewinds.
Organisers expect about 100,000 visitors for the 51-match World Cup, which will be held for the first time in the Caribbean.
Host venues are Jamaica, Barbados, Grenada, Antigua, Guyana, Trinidad, St.
Lucia and St. Kitts. St. Vincent is scheduled to host warm-up matches.
Sixteen countries will compete, including two-time defending champion Australia.
