BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – IN preparation for the hosting of the 14th St. Kitts Music Festival, the Organising Committee is asking patrons which local artiste they would most like to see on this year’s event.

According to the Executive Director of Festivals Secretariat, Allister Williams, they would like to hear from the public which local artiste they think should grace the stage this year.

When SKNVibes asked posed the question, the majority of persons said they think Infamus should be that artiste. Marvin Collins said he prefers to see Infamus on BET rather than the St. Kitts Music Festival.

The second most requested artiste was Sandy Point’s C-Money, followed by votes for Best A Dem (BAD) which features Hi-light, T.Vicious and Rinch.

Keith Yearwood said that he is not from St. Kitts but enjoys the music coming from the Nu Vybes and Small Axe Bands and also that of Masud Sadiki.

Randel Thompson, who is also a local artiste and a 100 percent supporter of homegrown acts, said that all the local artistes should be featured on this year’s festival.

King Konris, Dagah, SMI, Rolensha and Charlie Miller were also the next most requested local acts to grace the stage, in that order.
“Mykal Somer…he is underrated and unknown,” said Losana Laws.

Marcus Natta also agreed that Mykal Somer should be featured on this year’s festival. Others also recommended KC5, the Lightz Out Band, three-peat Road March Champs Grandmasters and the reigning Calypso King, Socrates.

Recently, the St. Kitts Tourism Authority announced that this year’s festival, which will be held from June 24–26, would be packaged with the South Africa Test Cricket Match.

The South Africa and West Indies Test Match will also be held from June 18 to 22 at Warner Park, which is also the venue for the festival. The St. Kitts Music Festival is said to be the most diversified musical show in the Caribbean and the three-day extravaganza is normally filled with exhilarating local, regional and international performances.
