BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – DAMARIS LEWIS, a model for one of the world’s leading agencies, Elite Model Management, is the daughter of Kittitian Penelopy Lewis.
The 19-year-old hails from Brooklyn and is also a classically trained dancer who attended the LaGuardia High School of the Performing Arts.
She was discovered by a modelling agent while performing with her dance troupe at a benefit dinner, and within months she was working for clients such as V, French Vogue, Benetton, Saks, MAC Cosmetics and Yves St. Lauren.
She first appeared in the popular Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue in 2009 at the age of 18 and again for the 2010 edition.
The 5’9” beauty with measurements 34-26-34 is the European face of YSL Complexion Makeup.
She was also a part of the Victoria Secret’s PINK line. According to Ronnet Cumberbatch, who first informed SKNVibes of her cousin’s modelling career, St. Kitts is not a well-known island in the Caribbean to most non-West Indians.
“And the fact that she has Kittitian blood running through her veins is reason enough to learn more about her success…hope someone can be inspired,” Cumberbatch said.
Elite Model Management is said to be the world's most prestigious modelling network, founded in Paris, France in 1972 by John Casablancas and Alain Kittler.
With Elite, Lewis is expected to become one of the notable models of the world as the agency has managed the likes of Tyra Banks, Gisele Bundchen, Adriana Lima, Naomi Campbell, Karen Elson, Cindy Crawford, Heidi Klum, Paulina Porizkova, Alessandra Ambrosio and Stephanie Seymour.
The agency manages over 800 models from five continents and offers international coverage with 36 agencies in its network.
