Another man shot on St. Kitts

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – FOLLOWING on the heels of the four shootings on St. Kitts and Nevis between last Friday night and Saturday morning, another shooting incident took place in Godwin Ghaut, St. Kitts on Saturday, February 20.

     

    Reports reaching SKNVibes state that Vincent Duporte of Halfway Tree was shot by an unidentified man while he was in Godwin Ghaut.

     

    However, more details were provided by the police in a recent press release which stated, “On Saturday 20th February 2010 police from the Sandy Point Police Station and the Old Road Police Station responded to a report of shooting which occurred at approximately 10:30 a.m. at a ghaut at Godwin Ghaut.

     

    “Investigations revealed that Vincent Duporte of Halfway Tree was shot at by an unknown person; he fled the area and made his escape. He then realized that he had received a graze on his left ankle. The police issued Duporte a police medical form and he was taken to the Pogson Medical Centre where he was examined and treated for his injuries and discharged.”

     

    The release further stated that no suspect(s) is in custody for the offence but investigations are ongoing.

     

    Last Friday, at about 9:00 p.m., a young man in his mid-20s, Kelvis ‘Kelly’ Matthew of Saddlers Village, was shot in his leg while in that village in the vicinity of Bradshaw Centre of Attraction (BCA). And about the same time on Friday night, 20-year-old Audrington Syder of Wades Garden was shot in his arm in Upper Prickly Pear Alley, Basseterre.

     

    On sister isle Nevis, Jermaine ‘Chalise’ Freeman of Rawlins Village was shot in both legs, while Travis ‘Gangster Fat’ Hanley of Halfway Tree, St. Kitts was shot in the back. Both men are said to be in the mid-20s.

     

    No suspect has so far been held accountable for these shootings, but police declared that more information would be provided following investigations on both islands.
