BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force is making investigations into a weekend crash that resulted in extensive vehicular damage and injuries to the drivers.
Police Press and Public Relations Officer Inspector Vaughan Henderson issued a communiqué yesterday (Feb. 22) in which he explained that the incident took place in Sandy Point and involved two motor jeeps.
“On Friday 18th February 2010 police at the Sandy Point Police Station and members of the Traffic Department responded to a report of a traffic accident which occurred at approximately 8:40 p.m. along the island main road below Brimstone Hill Road in the vicinity of the Mechanic Shop at Sandy Point.
“Investigations revealed that there was a traffic accident involving motor jeep PA-289 owned and driven by Aldrin ‘Bushy’ Phipps of Main Street, Sandy Point and motor jeep P-7134 owned by Robelton Glasgow of Manchester Street, Sandy Point and driven by Terrance ‘Snow Man’ Somersal of Downing Street, Sandy Point.”
According to the release, circumstances surrounding the incident are that motor jeep P7134 was reversing onto the island main road from “out of the mechanic shop” while motor jeep P289 was travelling in a westerly direction when the collision transpired.
Both drivers, as the release explained, were transported to the Joseph N. France General Hospital by the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) with one being treated and discharged while the other was detained.
“The two vehicles were extensively damaged and the drivers involved sustained injuries and were taken to the JNF Hospital by members of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS). Aldrin ‘Bushy’ Phillip received cuts and bruises about his body but was treated and discharged while Terrance ‘Snow Ma’” Somersal who also received cuts and bruises about his body but complained of pain was detained.”
Investigations into the matter are being conducted, Henderson assured.
