Road Town, Tortola - The Premier’s Office has appointed Mr. Devon Osborne as Press Secretary to the Premier with effect from February 15, 2010 on a temporary contractual agreement.
As Press Secretary, Mr. Osborne is responsible for managing the Premier’s public profile, a task that involves managing the outreach to shape public opinion and public dialogue on the role and work of the Premier as leader of Government business. He will serve in that capacity for six months initially.
Mr. Osborne is also responsible for message development and delivery to target audiences in the media, the public and key stakeholders on behalf of the Premier as well as advise the Premier on how to deal with the media with a view to maintaining a positive image and avoiding negative media coverage.
Mr. Osborne has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physical Education from the Inter American University of Puerto Rico and a Master’s degree in Sports Management Administration from Florida International University.
Mr. Osborne, who operates a small marketing firm, has extensive experience as an event producer and promoter. Fluent in Spanish as a second language, Mr. Osborne has produced many radio shows in Spanish and English at ZROD 103.7 FM. In addition, he has worked with the public service as a physical education teacher for over 17 years and in 2009, he served as a consultant to the Ministry of Education and Culture for sports development and facility enhancement.
