Road Town, Tortola - The Deputy Governor’s Office has announced that the theme of the fourth Deputy Governor’s History Research Programme is “Researching and Writing Biographies”.

Chief Records Management Officer Mrs. Verna Penn Moll told the Department of Information and Public Relations that a biography is simply the story about a life, and persons are invited to write about the life of any Virgin Islander, living or deceased.
Mrs. Penn Moll said, “While persons are encouraged to continue and complete research started under last year’s theme which was General Topics in Virgin Islands History, this year’s theme is important as it is an opportunity to document the lives of Virgin Islanders living and deceased and share with the wider community.”

Workshops giving hints on how to go about researching and writing a biography will be conducted during Archives, Records and Information Week slated for the second week in April.  The rules and regulations which govern the programme will also be distributed and discussed at that time.

Persons are encouraged to sign up now for the workshops with the Archives Unit of the Deputy Governor’s Office by telephoning 468-3701 ext. 3044/2562.

The Deputy Governor’s History Research Programme is held annually to encourage Virgin Islanders and residents to research and document local history. It also provides the opportunity for the wider community to know more of the history of the Virgin Islands, while at the same time establishing our identity.
