BASSETERRE, St.Kitts - In what is being hailed by all audience members as a major success, the 2010 Carib - TDC – LIME Karaoke Idol kicked off on Friday March 5th, at the Pinneys Beach Hotel.
As promised, the Show started at 8:00 pm sharp, after which, onlookers were thrilled by thirty (30) solid performances. In speaking to one of the estimated two hundred (200) Spectators on hand, she uttered with much excitement that she never thought Karaoke could ever be so much fun.
Singers from all walks of life, several age groups, both male and female, and even a variety of ethnic backgrounds performed songs from a kaleidoscope of genres that stretched across some six (6) decades of music, dating as far back as Elvis Presley in the 1950’s.
The Show started with the MC singing or in some people’s evaluation, talking the tune “Prisoner” from Lucky Dube. What made this performance memorable was the fact that he was dressed in an actual blue “Jail Bird” suit manacled with real handcuffs. This sent the crowd in a frenzy as it was just a taste of what was in store for them later.
They were then overwhelmed with renditions of Soca, Calypso, R & B, Rock & Roll, Hip Hop, Reggae, Dance Hall, and even Gospel Songs. “Man the Show was off the link,” exclaimed one teenager. “It really fizzled ma nizzle,” .....whatever that means Readers.
The Shows will run for nine (9) weeks culminating on April 30th. The next Show will be at the Rumours Restaurant, Bar & Grill this coming Thursday, March 11th. The Platinum Sponsors for this phenomenal event are Carib Brewery and TDC, who both had a noticeable presence in the audience with several of the Companies’ Executives on hand for the Opening.
In chatting with some of the TDC and Carib Brewery Representatives, they stated that they were very impressed with the professional staging of the Opening Show, the performances of the Singers, the audience Support, and that they were very pleased to be associated with the Event. One Company Executive went as far as to exclaim that a MONSTER had been created that will add flavour to nightly entertainment in Nevis.
The idea was conceptualized and the series of Shows is being coordinated by the Members of SEN Consulting, a Marketing Company managed by Noah Mills. In a brief interview, Mills thanked the Sponsors, specifically, Carib Brewery, for example Mr. Mark Wilkin and Mr. Calvin Cable, and TDC namely Mr. Ernie France and Mrs. Jonelle Rawlins-Drew, who all had the vision to see the magnitude of the Karaoke Idol concept.
He went on to commend the Judges, his Management team, and all other Contributors, the outstanding Performers, and the Audience for its support. He ended by inviting all persons to come to Rumours for the second leg as they would be missing a REAL TREAT if they choose not to do so. See you there everyone!
