Who’s next after Bishop Collins? asks PAM's Leader Lindsay Grant

PAM’s Political Leader Lindsay Grant
PAM Public Relations Office

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, March 9, 2010 (PAM Public Relations Office) - The heavy hand of Labour’s victimization fell on Bishop Ron Collins just days after the conclusion of the electoral fraud of 25th January. I could not help but laugh as I remembered the campaign of misinformation mounted from the Labour platform during the campaign that sought to paint PAM as the party of victimization. We were told that every family was victimized under PAM which we must presume had to include the Simmonds family among others but that no one was ever victimized under Labour.

That illusion was erased rather quickly when Bishop Collins made the mistake of thinking that in a free country governed by a constitution which guarantees freedom of expression he could speak his mind. The message that was sent by Dr. Douglas could not be clearer or more sinister, whoever tries to follow in the footsteps of Bishop Collins will suffer the same punishment.

Now the “Security Chiefs” have joined in the campaign against Bishop Collins who was the chairman of the NGO Coalition that observed the general election. Again we hear hysterical calls for a retraction of the truth so that the fairytales that are being peddled by Dr. Douglas and his stooges can be legitimized. The army fatigues, M16 rifles and security force transport of voters from St. Pauls was in full view of hundreds of witnesses; but they think that after just four weeks that would all be forgotten.

I know how Labour’s victimization feels. I have been denied the ability to open a business in the land of my birth. My father’s property in Old Road was illegally appropriated by this government despite losing the court case. In fact the theft of private land by government in this country has been significant enough to catch the attention of the US State Department and cause it to issue a warning to potential investors. Hundreds of other families have suffered this same demoralizing experience.

The sad fact is that the character assassination of Bishop Collins is just the beginning of the campaign of vengeance that is to come. Many other citizens are sitting at home afraid, waiting for the hammer to drop because they are civil servants or work in a statutory corporation. They remember what happened in 2004 and they know that this government will scrutinize their votes. Those who recently got land after many years are worried they, even now, can see others who ended up with the same plot as several other people and only one person can get that land. Under Denzil Douglas nothing can be allowed to enable citizens to judge him critically so to distract citizens from the NGO report he attempts to destroy Bishop Collins. Who will suffer next?

Even with this questionable “win” all is not well in the Labour camp. Prime Minister Douglas is afraid that his rule stands on a foundation of sand that will be swept away by the force of justice from the court so he will depend on terror to pacify angry citizens. However, it is justice that will prevail and we will take our country back.
