    CHARLESTOWN
    NEVIS (April 13, 2006) -- In an effort to solve crimes and bring perpetrators to justice, the Nevis Island Administration (NIA) continues to throw its support behind the Police and has issued a call to the public to do the same. 
    In a press release issued Wednesday April 12, 2006 from the Premiers Office, the Administration indicated its deep concern of recent shooting incidents one on Sunday 9th April at Brown Hill Village which left Mr Deon Warner seriously wounded and a patient at the Alexandra Hospital and the other on Tuesday April 10 at the Bath Springs in Charlestown in which Mr Brian Mills of Charlestown was wounded when he was shot by two gunmen.
     
    We [NIA] will continue to work with the Police, the Federal government and the civil society to put an end to this type of criminal activity by these young criminals. These shootings have caused grave concern among the residents of our small beautiful island.
     
    The Administration is working with the Police in an effort to solve these crimes and bring these perpetrators to justice.  We have full confidence in the Police and we are calling on the general public to co-operate and work with the Police by giving information that would assist in bringing the criminals in our society to justice, the release stated.
     
    The Administration reminded all citizens of Nevis of the enormous development and progress Nevis has achieved over the last 14 years which could be threatened by this type of criminal activity. Remember our Tourism industry which underpins our economy is extremely fragile, the release said.
     
    According to the release, the shooting incidents which came on the hills of another shooting incident on March 19, 2006 when Mr Wendell Huggins and Ms Judith Hendrickson were shot at their business place in Rawlins Village. Mr Huggins remains hospitalised. 
     
    The Administration also conveyed its wishes for a speedy recovery to Mr Warner and Mr Mills.
