CHARLESTOWN, Nevis - A 15-year-old Guyanese national was this morning (Mar. 17) found hanging from a tree close to his mother’s home in Cane Garden, Nevis.
Reports reaching SKNVibes indicate that the teenager, Yudesh Persaud, had committed suicide.
According to Sergeant Alonzo Carty of the Nevis Branch of the Criminal Investigation Department, police received a call at 5:40 this morning and they responded immediately.
“The young boy was found hanging on the tree,” said Sergeant Carty, who also revealed that Dr. Chandy Jacob had visited the scene at about 7:00 a.m. and pronounced him dead.
The boy’s mother is reported to have lost consciousness on seeing her son’s limp body hanging from the tree. She was transported by police to the Alexandra Hospital, where she was treated for shock.
Dr. Kenley Okolie, the doctor on duty this morning at the Alexandra Hospital, confirmed that the mother was stable. He told this media house that “she was treated for normal grief”.
Sergeant Carty informed that investigations into the teen's death are ongoing.
