    BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS (MARCH 15TH 2004) - Another Kittitian is making the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis proud.
    Sandy Point-born John “Ras Untunga” James Douglas has been inducted into the Alpha Chi Zeta Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at Seattle Central Community College.
     
    Douglas is the son of Elaine Douglas of St. Croix and is married to Bana Devi Vasquez Douglas of Seattle, Washington. He is presently working towards a degree as a master architect.
     
    Established in 1918, Phi Theta Kappa is the most prestigious honor society serving two-year colleges around the world. The Society serves to recognise and encourage the academic achievement of two-year college students and provide opportunities for individual growth and development through honours, leadership and service programmes.
     
    Students must rank in the top 20 percent of the class to be invited to join Phi Theta Kappa.  Students also must maintain high academic standing during their enrollment.  Phi Theta Kappa is the largest honor society in America higher education with more than 1.5 million members and 1,100 chapters in United States, its territories, Canada, Germany and Japan.
     
    In 1929, the American Association of Community Colleges recognized Phi Theta Kappa as the official honor society for two-year colleges.  The Society holds members in the Association of College Honour Societies as the general scholarship honour society representing two year colleges.
