St. Lucia to host Jazz Festival number 19

    CASTRIES, St. Lucia – THE Annual St. Lucia Jazz Festival will be celebrating 19 years this year and the event will be held from May 1-9 at the Pigeon Island National Landmark and Gaiety on Rodney Bay.

     

    Grammy-winning recording artistes Ne-Yo, Shaggy and Steel Pulse are among the acts set to rock this year`s Jazz Festival.
    The main stage events will begin on May 5 with Earl Klugh, Laura Izibor and the Saint Lucia School of Music performing at the Gaiety on Rodney Bay Road.

     

    On Thursday, May 6, Jean-Luc Ponty Monty Maxwell, Harvey Millar and Allison Marquis will take to the stage from 7:00 p.m. at the same venue.

     

    On Friday, May 7, at the Pigeon Island National Landmark and beginning at 8 p.m. will be Ne-yo, T-Vice and Teddyson John. 
    On Saturday, May 8, a host of artistes including Steel Pulse, Corrine Bailey Rae, Eliades Ochoa & Amadito Valdes, stars from
    Buena Vista Social Club, Boo Hinkson and friends featuring Tempest and Claudia Edward will entertain with great music beginning at 8:00 p.m. at the Pigeon Island National Landmark.

     

    Bringing the curtains down on Sunday, May 9 at the Pigeon Island National Landmark, will be Maxi Priest & Shaggy, Men of Soul starring Jeffrey Osborne, Freddie Jackson, Phil Perry and Howard Hewett, along with Esperanza Spalding, Dobet Gnahoré, Carl Gustave and Quito and the Edge.

     

    Artistes that performed on the 2009 lineup included Amy Winehouse, Estelle, Chicago, Patti LaBelle, Beres Hammond, KC & the Sunshine Band, Kassav and Chaka Khan.
