Somer presents ‘Rep You Own’ this Saturday at Potential

By: Cherisse M. Sutton-Jeffers, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – ALL Kittitians are asked to represent with flags, shirts or simply the colours of the Federation’s flag at the Potential Bar on Saturday (Mar. 27) for the first ever concert dubbed ‘Rep You Own’.

The event is being organised by local artiste Mykal Somer and, according to him, he just wants people to represent their own. “I feel that over the years I didn’t get the support and representation I deserved. We as Kittitians are seriously lacking in that department,” Somer said.

The concert will also feature Ashkenaz, C-Money, Dagah, Infamus and Juliette Mills among others, whom Somer said he views as artistes who deserve the extra push.

“Infamus has the place lock right now; Dagah has his videos and has been performing a lot lately; and I see Juliette Mills as one of the best Soca artistes from the Federation, but she does not receive the exposure which she deserves,” he added.

Somer said he has hopes of turning the concert into an annual event and has high expectations that it would help to boost the local acts chosen to perform.

He said the concert would be filmed and ‘Rep You Own’ is expected to become a company, which would give audience a chance to see what local artistes have to offer.

The night will also feature music by Sweet Sister Sensia, who Somer said has supported him from the start of his career. Nu Vybes Band International, Grand Masters Band and Mixklusiv International will also provide musical entertainment throughout the night.

So, do what the four-peat king said and “take out your flags, take out your rags and show your honour and take the oath” this Saturday and ‘Rep you own’. Tickets are $25 before the night of the event and $30 anytime after.
