BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS: March 29, 2010: For the first time in its 39-year history, the CARIFTA Games will be broadcast live across the region, thanks to LIME’s sponsorship of the Games.
LIME has joined forces with the Caribbean Media Corporation (CMC) to bring the games to the people of the region. Seventeen partner stations across the Caribbean have already confirmed that they will be televising the Games, ensuring that a large number of people in the region can track, in real time, the performance of their favourite athletes participating in this year’s competition which will be held in the Cayman Islands from April 3-5.
The three days of live coverage will include commentary, interviews and analysis of the competition as well as the opening ceremony.
As a build up to the games, CMC will also be airing thirteen 5-minute mini-magazine programmes highlighting some of the top athletes participating in this year's championships and also recapping the history of the games.
“LIME recognizes CARIFTA as one of the most important events on the region’s athletic calendar and the critical role the games play in developing young athletes. Through our sponsorship, the goal is to increase the visibility of the games for maximum exposure across the Caribbean. We are sure that Track and Field fans across the Caribbean are looking forward with great anticipation to watch the young athletes of the region as they perform live,” commented Chris Dehring, LIME’s Chief Marketing Officer.
In St. Kitts & Nevis the games, sponsored by LIME, can be viewed on ZIZ television in St. Kitts and Caribbean Cable Communication in Nevis.
