Infamus releases new single; takes break to prepare for Music Festival

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A song that expresses his love for the woman that gave him life was recently released by Kittitian artiste Infamus.

Infamus said that tears came to his eyes as he penned the right words that describe the unconditional love his mother showed while raising him.

“The song basically covers the experiences with my mom, and hopefully others can relate to it with their mothers,” he said.

The song, ‘My Mama’, was recorded, arranged and produced by Kesean ‘Hi-light’ James of Yard Tune Productions.

“Nuff thanks to Yard Tune Productions for helping me make another great song. The song speaks of how my mother took care of me, all the things she would tell me and even until now. I now understand what she was trying to teach me and that’s what really inspired the song,” he said.

“Everyone knows that mamas work hard and there’s a line in the song that says ‘even if you didn’t make it still would of love you mama’, it’s the least we can tell them.”

The 21-year-old artiste, whose real name is Kervin Benjamin and hails from Cayon, is still on a musical high from a January concert at Warner Park with mega star Wyclef Jean.

“Yeah, that was really great for me to know that he liked ‘Feel Like Crying’ and recognised it as being a good song,” he said.

He describes his career as progressing smoothly so far.

“I have been truly blessed. There was a time when I felt like nothing was happening with my career but good things come to those who wait, and I’m really thankful to the people for showing me their love and support. I can’t do it without them, and it seems as though people have been really appreciating the fact that I’m trying to do this in a serious way, in terms of putting a management team together,” he said.

Benjamin journeyed to St. Croix on March 19 for his first overseas gig, where he performed alongside some of the Virgin Islands’ top artistes.

“The people of St. Croix really welcomed me with open arms and they really embraced me,” he said.

In response to the recent negative comments that were circulating about him, Benjamin said that in life one must take the good with the bad.

“Sometimes in life as soon as you step out and try to do something positive you’ll receive negative feedback. A battery cannot work without a negative side, so this is all a part of it I guess.”

The young artiste wants all of his fans to know that he is doing well and is desirous about making life a success.

“But what don’t break you only makes you stronger, and people would always try to bring down people who they see are getting through in life,” he said.

“I guess that’s their job, but mine is to make music and sing for the people, and that’s what I will continue to do. I just want everyone to know I’m ok.”

The artiste will be performing at this year’s annual Music Festival and declared that a special announcement concerning his career would be made shortly.
