By: Erasmus Williams, CUOPM

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, APRIL 15TH 2010 (CUOPM) - “Sexual Desire, Drive and Dysfunction: Preserving Your Health at Any Age,” comes under the spotlight in St. Kitts and Nevis Thursday evening.

The Baptist Health International Center of Miami, a division of Baptist Health South Florida, has partnered with St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas and the St. Kitts and Nevis Ministry of Health to host the seminar on men’s health and related topics for healthcare practitioners and the public of St. Kitts and Nevis.
    The event begins at 6:30.

With the assistance of Prime Minister Douglas and the Ministry of Health, President and Chief Executive Officer of Baptist Health, Mr. Brian Keeley and Honorary Consul General of St. Kitts and Nevis in Florida, has designed this seminar to educate men of all ages on the importance of sexual health and well-being with a special emphasis on promoting healthy relationships and sexuality in patients battling chronic diseases.

“Men in Caribbean societies are usually not forthcoming when it relates to their sexual health,” said Prime Minister Douglas. “It can be a sensitive subject, but we hope to open the dialogue on these pertinent issues by presenting attendees with relevant facts and information that will enhance their quality of life.”

The seminar, directed by urologist from South Miami Hospital in Miami, Dr. Darren Bruck, will address the high incidence of diabetes, high blood pressure and heart-related diseases as a key underlying factor in sexual dysfunction.

Other presentation topics include: “The Effects of Chronic Illnesses on a Man’s Sexual Health,” “The Connection between Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia and Sexual Dysfunction,” and “Barriers to Sexual Discussion,” among others.
