BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – MANAGEMENT of the TDC Group of Companies is offering a $5 000 reward to anyone who can provide information leading to the arrest and prosecution of a group of men who broke into the company’s Automotive Division between Saturday (Feb. 20) and Monday (Feb 22).

Speaking with SKNVibes, a spokesperson for the company claimed that it has been over seven weeks since management had provided the police with images of the men who had broken into the Automotive Division and stole a number of items. Their images were recorded on the security cameras strategically placed in the building.

The spokesperson claimed that St. Kitts is only 69 square miles and they could no longer wait on the police to find the men, and they are therefore seeking the public’s assistance.

“We had provided the police with the images of the men who broke into the building. It has been over seven weeks since the incident was reported and, to date, the police have not been successful in bringing them to justice. We have therefore decided to seek the public’s assistance and a reward of EC$5 000 is being offered to anyone who can provide the necessary information leading to their arrest and conviction,” the spokesperson said.

In addition to the non-apprehension of the men, the spokesperson stressed that there is no trace of the stolen items.

“Since the incident,” the spokesperson said, “we have beefed-up our security by employing an additional security service. We have always had surveillance cameras in and out of the building, as well as security beams around the perimeter. However, since the break-in, we have upgraded our security system and recorded images will be better identified.”

According to a police press release in February, at about 8:00 a.m. on Monday (Feb. 22), management of TDC reported to the police that the company’s Automotive Division at the C.A. Paul Southwell Park was broken into and a number of items, including a Pick-up, were stolen.

Police said investigations revealed that the building was secured after the Automotive Division had closed for business at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday (Feb. 20), but on the staff’s return at 7:30 a.m. on Monday (Feb. 22) they discovered it was broken and one silver Toyota Hilux Cab Motor Pick-up (PA 497) that was on the compound awaiting servicing was stolen, along with an undisclosed amount of items from within the building.

“A number of searches have been conducted by members of the security forces with able assistance from the community but to date the Motor Pick-Up has still not been found. There are no suspect(s) in custody in relation to the breaking and stolen vehicle, however investigations are ongoing,” the release read.

The law enforcement body also appealed to the general public to “give information and or assistance to the police leading to the recovery and or arrest of the perpetrator(s), stolen items and the Motor Pick-Up. Persons with information on this matter are asked to contact the nearest police station or the Criminal Investigations Department at 465-8351/2, 465-2241 Exts: 220, 230, 236”.
