KINGSTON, Jamaica – THE hit song of Reggae sensation Gyptian, ‘Hold You’, which has been blowing up on airwaves across the region and the international music charts, has been taken to another level as it was recently remixed with US artiste Nicky Minaj.
Reports are that the remix was premiered by Funkmaster Flex on New York's Hot 97 on Monday and later uploaded on www.youtube.com, and in one day got over 1 600 views.
Although the remix was not authorised by Gyptian and his team, reports are that the artiste and his management are quite pleased with the results. A spokesperson from his camp said it is a possibility that the remix might end up on Gyptian’s long awaited third album for VP Records.
The song, Hold You, was released sometime in 2009 and has grown rapidly since then.
Nicky Minaj was signed last year to Lil Wayne’s label and she has so far been making a name for herself.
Gyptian, who has been in the music business for quite some time, became well known with his hit single ‘Serious Times’ and is also known for other hits such as ‘Mama Don’t Cry’, ‘Beautiful Lady’, ‘Is There A Place’ and ‘I Can Feel Your Pain’.
The artiste, born Windel Beneto Edwards, was recently named one of the acts to perform at the 10th annual BVI Music Festival.
