BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – S MODEL management celebrated their first anniversary by recognising local fashion and modelling icons in St. Kitts and Nevis.
Judith Rawlins of Brown Sugar Designs and Photographer Garth Archibald were recently recognised for their outstanding work over the years in the local fashion and modelling industry.
The announcement was made at a dinner cocktail held at Bobsy’s Bar and Grill in Frigate Bay on April 16 as the agency, including its models and management team along with close associates of the agency, celebrated the eventful night.
“We really wanted to pay homage to Judith Rawlins and Garth Archibald because of their outstanding work and commitment to the modelling industry here in St. Kitts and Nevis.
Brown Sugar, not only because she is a successful longstanding talented designer in the Federation, but because of her genuine love for the industry and wanting to see local models succeed. She has always been willing to assist models, whether it be with her clothing or through other opportunities,” said Suelika Creque, Manager of the agency.
“And Garth Archibald is one of the popular photographers, who, back in the days, was always willing to photograph models and help them develop their portfolios. He is an individual that many young photographers look up to now, and it was only fitting that we recognise him for all his hard work and efforts.”
Creque added that recognising individuals in the local fashion industry is an initiative her agency would like to make an annual event when they celebrate their anniversary.
“And this is something that we want to do on an annual basis and honour more and more persons who have significantly contributed to the industry here. Where would we be without them? There is a saying that in order to know where you’re going you must know from whence you came. And with that said, I must mention Angela Benjamin…the woman who started Classique Model Agency.
That was the agency back in the days to look up to. They were great and I’m sure everyone has a fond memory of them. I’m hoping that my agency can one day be remembered or looked at with the same pride as I do when I think about Classique,” said Creque.
There were also awards given to several of its models who were recognised for their hard work during the time they have been a part of the agency.
Kimani Phillip was awarded Most Devoted Model and would receive a Gift Voucher compliments Amali Armony.
Tamika Taylor was awarded Most Photogenic Model and will receive a free photo-shoot compliment Saju Ng’alla, while Marshaw Browne, who resides in Nevis, received the award for Best New Face and will receive a free photo-shoot with Jawanza Bassue.
