    Sandy Point high showcasing their customized Match boxes
    (Basseterre, St. Kitts) The Junior Achievement Programme held a trade fair at the Independence Square last Friday, May 5.
     
    The trade fair was held under the theme "Developing Young Entrepreneurs" where six schools participated in the 2005/2006 Innovative Company Project.
     
    The innovative company project asked students to identify and propose business opportunities within the federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.
     
    They were asked to operate a business, and provide a performance report at

    the end of the project.
     
    Some of the schools participating were the Basseterre High School, a.k.a. Amizah TJ's Productions, Cayon High a.k.a. Scholastic Holding.
     
    Gingerland Secondary a.k.a. Unique Creations, Sandy Point a.k.a. Junior Achievement Sandy Point or JASP, St Theresa's Convent a.k.a. Locally Yours and Verchilds' High a.k.a. Bright Star Ink.
     
    The students hailed from third and fourth form of each school.

    Locally Yours displayed Hand Crafted jewelry such as earrings, necklace, and hand accessories that were made from beads, bones, shells, wire and wool.
     
    Bright Star Inc. decorated candles with floral arrangements, and while everyone else forgot about Mothers Day Unique Creations made Mothers' Day post cards to remind us of that special person, along with wool pom-pom.

    showcased customized match boxes.
     
    The trade fair was intended to profile the Junior Achievement Company and provide an avenue through which students can showcase their products in an effort to augment their sales.
     
    The Junior Achievement Worldwide is the world's largest non-profit, non-government organization dedicated to educating young people about the value of free enterprise, business and economics through its Junior Achievement Programmes.

    One of the long terms expectations of the programme is to equip participants with the necessary skills to contribute to the development of the financial system through business venture creation, their work as business people and their knowledge of money and capital markets.
     
    Some of the sponsors for the Junior Achievement Programme in St. Kitts are National Bank, Cable & Wireless, Easter Caribbean Central Bank, the Trading Development Company.
     
    Also Nevis Co-operative Credit Union and Bank of Novia Scotia, while
    Verchilds' High Showcasing their decorated candles
    contributors were Ocean Terrace Inn, Wesk Agency (MV Mark Twain) and Carib Brewery (St. Kitts-Nevis Ltd).
