Miss Labour Pageant set for May 1

By: Suelika N. Creque, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – EIGHT young ladies from each of the constituencies in St. Kitts are currently preparing to compete for the coveted title of this year’s Miss Labour, scheduled for Carnival Village at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 1.

The eight beauties are Janaie Browne, Kyanna Pinney, Amaany Greene, Shanice Blake, Saleema Aleah Hendrickson, Patricia Francis, Tevrehn Bedford and Denise Harrigan.

They will be judged in four segments - Promotional Speech, Creative Wear, Performing Talent and Evening Wear.
According to Vincent Fough, Coordinator of the Pageant, plans have been going well and the contestants are ready to shine on the night of the show.

He also said that the contestants were asked to base their Promotional Speech on progress within their respective constituencies.

Fough explained that preparations began late and they were unable to conduct development sessions for the contestants, which is usually helpful for them; but instead allowed them to use the time to concentrate on their individual preparations for the show.

Last year’s winner was Tamara Dorset of Constituency Six. She was consistent in every segment and also won the award for Best Promotional Speech.

Last year’s guest artiste was Etana, but no word has so far been heard on who will be this year’s.
