BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - ‘WIFEY VS. MATEY’ is the title given to a bashment party that will be held tonight (May 2) at Club Kactus, and not only will it attract one’s attention but it will also make one wonder why that name.

The party is being organised by Tonic Promotions and Evolution Family.

According to the Tonic promoter, “The name of the party is Wifey vs. Matey. Honestly, the party is not to bring drama, it is rather to bring out the ladies to the club and to have the DJs play more for the ladies. Because, so many times the parties that are held don’t give enough to the ladies and I think this is a way of bringing them out and having them wear their colours to represent.”

The promoter of this event, who prefers to go nameless, said the colours for the party are white and black. “The white is for the ‘matey’ because white is close to transparent and when they are doing their thing it’s transparent until they get caught. Black, on the other hand, is for the ‘wifey’, because it is a strong colour and that’s what the wifey is…strong. She goes through a lot having to deal with the matey and the wrongs her man is doing…because of this she wears black to show her strength.”

“Black and white now is for those  who are confused a bit and are not sure if they are the wifey, matey, single or a little bit of both; so might as well mix the colors,” she added.

A party of the same title party was held in Nevis some weeks ago and, according to the Tonic promoter, the turnout was great. She said she was surprised at the turnout because it was raining heavily and the women still came out, but with their umbrellas.

She added that the DJs played ‘gal tune’ after ‘gal tune’, from R&B to lovers’ rock to dancehall to Soca and Pop. “It was off the chain. The ladies had a nice time. We are even giving them a part two, hopefully, at the ending of May,” she concluded.

The party, which kicks off at 10:00 p.m., will feature the Wardadli SoulJahs sound from Antigua and St. Kitts’ Sister Sensia and Evolution Sound.

Remember, this one is for the ladies. So ladies ‘buss a wine’ and ‘lime’ till sunshine because the following day is a holiday and, according to the two promoters, “we partying till morning”.
