Federation’s Deputy Commonwealth Youth Ambassador highlights Commonwealth Video Contest

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts (May 5, 2010) - The Commonwealth to date comprises of fifty four nations with over two billion people, approximately one third of the world’s population. As such, it is pivotal that we showcase our diversity through displays of our talents and culture. The Commonwealth Video Contest is a competition that seeks to highlight and capture that cultural richness previously mentioned.

     

    Those who wish to enter the video contest may highlight an issue (peace, climate change, democracy, human rights, education, health, youth issues or anything else), talk about themselves, their hobbies, friends, family, home country or local community, or perform a dance or song.

     

    Criteria and rules of the Commonwealth Video Contest:
    1. Each entry will be judged on originality, creativity, passion and/or inspirational or entertainment value.
    2. More than one video may be entered by the same person.
    3. There is no age limit, as the competition is open to all Commonwealth citizens.
    4. A maximum of two persons per prize category in which one must be aged 21 or over will be awarded the trip to Marlborough’s House.
    5. The judging panel will include 2 members of each Commonwealth Youth Caucus in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and Pacific as well as Commonwealth Secretariat representatives.
    6. Accommodation and travel expenses for the trip to Marlborough House will be provided by the Commonwealth Youth Programme.
    7. No personal attacks or profanity.
    8. No explicit or pornographic images or lyrics.
    9. No videos should be uploaded which contradict the tolerant principles of the Commonwealth.
    10. No videos which contradict the tolerant principles of the Commonwealth.
    11. No copyright infringement please.
    12. Entries will only be accepted from video-makers and speakers/performers of Commonwealth countries.
    13. Video-makers must have the permission of speakers/performers in videos before uploading.
    14. In the event of a dispute over ownership, prizes will be awarded to speakers/performers, not those who submit the videos.
    15. The Commonwealth Secretariat reserves the right to withdraw or reject entries at any time.
    16. Secretariat staff or family members are barred from winning - although they may enter.
