CASTRIES, St. Lucia - PLANS for the 2010 St. Lucia Carnival is currently being finalised and will see the official launch on May 30 followed by a number of events from June 27 to July 20.
On Sunday, June 27 a number of contestants will vie for the Carnival Queen title and the Kaiso Headquarters will come alive on July 2.
The Groovy Soca Monarch, RC Jam and Calypso Semi-Finals will follow on July 3 and 4 respectively, while on July 9 it is back to the Kaiso Headquarters.
The Children Parade is slated for July 11 and there will be a Carnival Arts Exhibition from July 12 to 16.
The following events are scheduled to take place July 15 to 20: Inter Commercial House Calypso Competition, Panorama, Muzik An Nou, Calypso Monarch Finals, King and Queen Of The Bands/Caribbean Soca Monarch, J’Ouvert, The Pageant and Parade of the Bands.
Iva Satney currently holds the National Carnival Queen title and Pep is the defending Calypso Monarch.
