BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – FOLLOWING up on their Friday morning success in Cayon, members of the Federation’s security forces have removed yet another firearm off the country’s streets. This time, however, McKnight was the targeted area.
Information reaching SKNVibes indicates that shortly after 8:00 last night (May 10), members of the security forces executed a search warrant on the Shaw Avenue, McKnight home of Woodie Williams and found one .357 Magnum Revolver, four matching rounds and a bullet-proof vest.
Williams was arrested and the illegal items were taken into police custody.
This is the 22nd illegal firearm to have been removed off the streets of St. Kitts and Nevis for this year.
Prior to this find, one .45 pistol and five matching rounds were found also in the McKnight area during an operation conducted by the Anti-Gang Unit on Thursday, May 6. Police had informed that a 17-year-old was taken into custody regarding the find.
The juvenile has since been charged with one count each of “possession of ammunition” and “possession of a firearm”. SKNVibes understands that he has already made an appearance before the Magistrate Court to answer to his charges and has been remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison (HMP).
On the following morning (May 7), police executed a search warrant on the home of Tau Charles in Cayon and found one .380 pistol with six matching rounds, a 5.56 rifle magazine and four rounds of 5.56mm ammunition.
A police release informed that Charles was slapped with two charges - “possession of a firearm” and “possession of ammunition”. He too was taken before the Magistrate Court and is current on remand at HMP.
