    (Basseterre, St. Kitts) Criminal matters appeared before Magistrate Josephine Mallalieu-Webbe and a visiting Magistrate from St. Vincent on Monday, May, 7 2006 at the Basseterre Magistrate Court.

     

     

     

    Several persons were present to answer charges including Shawn Brookes who was charged with assaulting Clayfield O'Loughlin on April, 2 2006.

     

     

     

    He plead not guilty to the charge and would have his case heard on June 12. Brian Francis plead not guilty to the charge of stealing equipment costing over $2,000.

     

     

     

    The offence occurred at Needsmust Estate on March 24, his case will also be heard on June 12.

     

     

     

    Eugene Lawrence said he was not guilty for the offence of threatening language that occurred on April 11, 2006. His case would also be heard on June 12.

     

     

     

    Elvira Pemberton plead not guilty to beating Merly Richardson on February 6, 2006 at Frigate Bay. Their case was heard on May 10.

     

     

     

    Glenn Webbe plead not guilty to the offence of beating Rudolph Wattley on February 2, 2006.

     

     

     

    Jermaine Brookes also plead not guilty to beating Calvin Francis at the Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport. Her case would be heard on June 6.

     

     

     

    Kion Francis also appeared before the court on the charge of grievous bodily harm and making use of threatening language against a police officer on April 2, 2006.

     

     

     

    He was remanded into custody until next week, but not before Mallalieu-Webbe told him that threatening a police office is a serious offence.

     

     

     

    Ivan James was charged with obtaining one sheet of plywood unlawfully on December 22 2005. He was also charged with breaking and entering Cynthia Hull's store and stealing goods as well as escaping police custody on that same day, March 20, 2006 on Central Fiennes Avenue. He plead guilty to all the charges.
