BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE juvenile, who was shot by a member of the Federation’s security forces last Thursday (May 6) in Cayon, was discharged from the Joseph N France General Hospital.

Information reaching SKNVibes indicates that the mother of the injured 16-year-old took him to their Molineux home on Monday afternoon (May 10) after he was discharged from the hospital.

He however was not charged for the alleged incident that caused him to be shot.

The teenager was shot in one of his legs in the vicinity of Cayon High School on Thursday.

According to a police press release, at approximately 12:30 p.m. on the day in question, officers at the Cayon Police Station responded to “a report of throwing missiles at the Cayon High School”.

The release stated that investigations revealed that a group of juvenile males were “throwing missiles from a bushy area nearby the school, much to the danger and discomfort of the students and teachers”.

It noted that on arrival, a number of them ran but a 16-year-old male, who was at the time masked, threw a missile at the police and the police discharged a single shot and injured him. The release also informed that the police are looking for a number of suspects in relation to the incident.

Informed sources told this media house that a number of young men were hidden in a clump of bush nearby the school, from where they threw plastic bottles and plastic bags containing human feces into one of the classes.

Sources also claimed that after the sound of a gunshot was heard, two individuals, one masked and the other wearing a school uniform, were pursued by a police officer but the former evaded capture by seeking refuge in the vicinity of the Cayon Community Centre.

However, the one who was clad in the school uniform tried to escape by travelling eastward along the island main road but collapsed and was taken into police custody. The other individual is yet to be found.
