BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – JAMAICAN artiste Sizzla has recently moved to Zimbabwe, according to a news report on reggaemusicfm.com.

The site reported that after performing at President Robert Mugabe’s 86th birthday celebrations in February, Sizzla opted for his payment to be in the form of land instead of money.

Sizzla, whose real name is Miguel Collins, told the local media in Zimbabwe that he was there to stay and that Zimbabwe was home.

According to his spokesperson Olimatta Taal, Sizzla is in Zimbabwe because he loves Africa. He also praised the president and urged the veteran leader to champion the cause of the return of the African people from “the gates of hell they are living in Jamaica and the Caribbean”.

He has already been granted a work permit and was working to consolidate business enterprises he has established locally to complement his singing profession, and is looking into areas his company ‘Judgement Yard’ can invest in for the upliftment of the Zimbabwean youths.

The singer also plans to establish agro-industries on his farm to help local youths under his Jamaican social responsibility banner.
Sizzla has already begun recording in the local studios and is working with local Reggae groups to produce his first album on Zimbabwean soil.

On January 29, the singer was arrested by Jamaican police in connection with a shooting incident and was released a day after no witness came forward.

Sizzla is one of the most recent artistes to be signed to this year’s St. Kitts Music Festival which will be held from June 24-26.
