KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent – AS the time draws near for Vincy Mas, St. Vincent’s Carnival, the Ahdrenalin Mas Band, one of the hottest mas bands in the Caribbean, has already been launched and is rearing to go.
Vincy Mas is scheduled to take place from June 25 to July 6 and this year Ahdrenalin Mas will be making its third appearance; this time however, the theme will be ‘Western Mayhem: The decline of Western Civilisation’. According to the band’s leader, Errol
Fraser, they would be presenting seven exotic and vibrant sections as well as children’s section in true carnival spirit.
The adult sections are Night at Debauchery, Exotic Dilusion, Frenzy, Mistress of Mischief, Decadence, Material Girl and Wings of Hope.
Fraser said the negative aspects that were plaguing their society is what inspired the theme and they wanted to send out a message that is yet fun and provocative.
Ahdrenalin is the youngest mas band and has presented costumes under the themes ‘Ahrora Borealis’ and ‘Candy Shop’ during the band’s first and second year participation respectively.
The name chosen for its Queen of the Band is ‘Out of Chaos come Hope’ while their King of the Band is called ‘Anarchy’.
The band is also all inclusive and provides breakfast, lunch, drinks and snacks along with the costume.
Fraser said that his group is one of the youngest troupes and although they have not won any of the judged competitions as yet, he is hoping that as its name grows they want to be able to provide the same quality service to people.
“Our aim is to continue providing the same quality service and product that we started out with. We’re the first band on the road for carnival Tuesday and the first into the park for judging, which means we spend longer time on the road,” he said.
