BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE Emerald Mist Spa housed at the St. Kitts Marriott Hotel held a Spa Part’ on Saturday evening (May 15) to say thanks to their valued customers.
According to the Spa Director, Helen Lugo, the event was also held to launch their new line and services, which include new types of massages and new manicures and pedicures along with a variety of products.
“We have our new mineral makeup line which is Jane Iredale. We’re launching that as well…and we have goody bags for everyone. It’s going to be a fun night,” she said.
The event was romanced by the wonderful music of saxophonist Rob Taylor, who was flown in from St. Lucia for the special occasion and played various genres of music from modern R&B to vintage Bob Marley.
Patrons were also treated to massages and, upon arrival, were greeted with the Emerald Mist Spa’s signature drink - a ‘Mojitos’.
General Manager of the St. Kitts Marriott Resort & Royal Beach Casino Flor van der Vaart said that he is excited about the direction the spa is taking.
“I think it’s a great initiative. The spa is a fairly old concept but with the new spa director, she’s been able to put it in a complete new jacket, elevate the service levels, elevate the product levels, elevate the availability of getting more people from St. Kitts experience what a real spa should be,” he said.
The General Manager said that it is important to have an efficient spa in the world of resorts. “People might choose a different island or different destination if your spa is not up to the levels we’re bringing it up to now. So we’re very excited and this is a great new beginning for our spa product and our spa here at Marriott St. Kitts.”
He said the staff had to undergo a 10-day training in how to effectively use the new products and execute the new services.
“We can’t sell something if we don’t know what we’re selling, and we can’t sell if we don’t know how to apply it or where to apply it.
She (Spa Director) brought in a new product, Epicuren Discovery, which is a high level, high end spa product, and the staff had to be trained in detail of each and every single item,” he said.
Van der vaart said that new services are always in demand, and it is not always what they spa offers but what is being requested by the customers.
“We need to be sure we hear and understand our clientele and that we stay on edge of the spa world with new initiatives,” he said.
