BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS – MAY 20th 2010: The Cayon Community Centre was the venue of a simple handing over ceremony of LIME’s sponsorship cheque to the Green Valley Festival Committee on Monday.
Witnessed by three members of the Green Valley Festival Committee, LIME’s Corporate Communications Manager, Laverne Caines handed over a cheque in the amount of $8,000 to support the activities of the troupes on parade on Last Lap. “LIME has recognised the critical role that sponsorship plays to keep festivals such as yours alive each year. In as much as the size of the cheque has been scaled down for obvious reasons, we were determined to continue our association with Green Valley because of the significant impact that this festival has on the local community,” she stated.
Spokesperson for the Green Valley Festival Committee, Clifford Griffin said that words were inadequate to thank LIME for the consistent and tremendous show of support for the last fourteen years of the festival. “The Green Valley Festival owes its longevity to sponsorship from companies such as LIME which has always been there for us,” he announced. “Each year we can rely on the assistance of this company to ensure that this festival will happen,” he concluded.
While the festival has survived for the last fourteen years, it has not escaped challenges of all types. LIME’s representative Laverne Caines challenged the organisers not to let the quality of the festival slip away as they have obviously done a lot to build the product that the festival has become.
Chairman of the Green Valley Festival Committee, Mr Vernon Benjamin, promised that every attempt will be made to raise the bar on the festival for the fifteenth anniversary to be celebrated in 2011.
As the public looks forward to supporting this year’s activities, LIME extends wishes for an incident-free and exciting experience.
