Action packed horse racing storms Beaumont Monday!

Press Release

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - Six competitive races have been carded for this Monday afternoon’s (May 24) special holiday racing program at Beaumont Park.

The Dieppe Bay race track has a first post scheduled for 3:00 p.m., with gates opening at 1:00 p.m.  All of the races, including the featured finale sponsored NAGICO Insurance, highlight what promises to be another fun-filled sporting and social event for the island of St. Kitts.

The first two races carded with full fields of eight horses are for maidens, horses which are non-winners of a race.

In the first race, look for Please The King, Port Oscar and Rum Salute to be supported at the betting windows in this wide open event. Please The King ran a nice third in his last appearance at the four furlong distance on Easter Monday. Port Oscar is one who cannot be counted out, as he always gives a good solid effort. Rum Salute is another one who can’t be discounted. Rum Salute has a third place finish to his credit after coming behind Gray In Time and Rainbow Ridge at this distance on April 25th.

Daring Spirit, who has finished second in his last two starts and is once again to be ridden by Michael Semple, hopes to make amends with a win in the second race. He will be facing a select group of maidens going five furlongs including Our Bud, Dominquero, and Ski For Luck amongst others. The field is an excellent betting race, with any of the competition holding a chance to get their picture taken in the winner’s circle for the first time.

The third race will see the undefeated Full Breed put his two race win streak on the line. Ridden by Brem Liburd, Full Breed faces a strong contingent in this non-winners of three race. Murray’s Mazal has a record of two wins at Monday’s distance, while Rollofthunder finished second against him on February 28th.

High Wire Glory returns to the races after a third place finish in the Digicel Cup on Easter Monday and may rule the favorite in the fourth race going four furlongs. This race too is no giveaway, with the likes of Secular, Tiedintwine, Norse Spirit and Gray In Time ready to give High Wire Glory all he can handle.

A field of five colts and geldings head up the fifth race on the card going six and one-half furlongs. Coming off of back-to-back wins is Prince Igor. Prince Igor will be ridden by leading Beaumont Park jockey J’son Liburd. Finishing second to Prince Igor in both of his last wins is Al Portador who once again accepts the challenge and gets the riding services of Laird Bailey. Also expected to run big is Schleishinger, winner of the Digicel Cup. Schleishinger returns to the sprint after having won at the distance on February 28th.

A stellar lineup will be seen in the featured finale sponsored by NAGICO. Local favorite and winner of five of seven lifetime starts, E Z Smile, heads a field of four fillies and mares going one mile. E Z Smile’s regular rider, Michael Semple once again has the call. Blessings finished second to E Z Smile on January 31st, while Zapthatstar finished third. Brilliant Bride completes the field going for a EC$10,000 purse.

With such a high-stakes card scheduled for the holiday event, this is one race day you do not want to miss. Admission for adults is only EC $10 and entertainment will be provided by Lights Out Band and DJ Tombstone International.
