Man wounded in early morning Newtown shooting

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – DOCTORS at the Joseph N France general Hospital are currently fighting to save the life of a 23-year-old man, who was shot early this morning (May 25) in Newtown.

     

    According to Police Press and Public Relations Officer, Inspector Vaughan Henderson, police responded to a report of shooting which occurred at approximately 4:00 a.m. today in Newtown.

     

    “Investigations revealed that 23-year-old Shamon Herbert of Mad House Alley was shot multiple times to the body. He is presently undergoing emergency treatment at the JNF Hospital and there are no suspects at this time,” Henderson said.

     

    He however indicated that investigations are ongoing.

     

    Information reaching this media outlet indicates that Herbert was shot in both legs, once in the region of his chest, once in the abdomen and a bullet grazed his forehead.

     

    Only last week Tuesday (May 18) a young man escaped the wrath of three brazen gunmen shortly after 10:30 a.m. in the vicinity of Mad House Alley.

     

    SKNVibes learnt that while the young man was seated under a mango tree in an empty lot at the corner of Roxorough Street and Mad House Alley, three armed masked men entered Roxorough Street from Pond Road and started shooting at him.

     

    The young man ran and jumped over the eastern concrete fence of the yard as the gunmen continue to shoot at him while on Mad House Alley.

     

    Police informed that no one was injured and there were no visible damage to property in the area. However, a number of spent shells were found on the roadway.
