Relatively large turnout at Green Valley International Night

By: Cherisse M. Sutton-Jeffers, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - ALTHOUGH it was not filled to capacity, a relatively large crowd turned out Sunday evening (May 23) at the Festival Village in support of the Green Valley’s International Night, which featured Jamaica’s Black Ryno.

The Kollision Band warmed up the venue by playing for over an hour, followed by St. Kitts’ lone female DJ Sweet Sister Sensia with some dancehall hits to keep the crowd entertained.

She then announced a dancing competition in which one lucky female could win three cases of drinks, compliments Carib Brewery, one of the sponsors for the event.

Two females took to the stage and gyrated in every way from standing to lying on the floors of the wooden stage, while the Emcee for the night, Cuttoe, joined the females on stage, much to the crowd’s delight.

After their jaw-dropping performance the prize was divided between the two females because neither of them outdid the other. The Evolution Sound then took over and also played a number of dancehall hits to get the crowd warmed up for Black Ryno’s performance.

Ryno went onstage some minutes to 3:00 a.m with his famous phrase ‘See it Deh’. He then performed a number of his hits, including ‘Bike Back’, ‘Thug Anthem, ‘Friends From Fore’ and ‘Informer’, each one for only a few minutes before making his departure just before 3:30 a.m.

In a brief interview with SKNVibes PEP after his performance, the artiste said he was not feeling well. He however declared that he enjoyed the reception from the crowd as they sang along to most of his songs.

Ryno said he had a great welcome at the airport when he arrived in St. Kitts and that he is looking forward to a return trip to perform.

He said his fans could look out for some new releases, which include ‘Send Dat’ Up For De Gal Dem’ and ‘Polo Shorts’.

“I also want to beg the youth to stay away from negative vibes and stay positive,” he said, while adding that although he has left the Portmore Empire nothing has changed…he is still the same Black Ryno and that Vibes Kartel would always be one of his favorite artistes regardless of him leaving.

The event came to an end with the Nu Vibes Band International.
