BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – LOCAL music producer Kennie Richardson, a.k.a. Kenny G, of Sandy Point, created the Blue Gem Riddim which features a host of top Jamaican dancehall artistes.

According to Richardson, the riddim was created in 2008 and he got in touch with a Jamaican company, So Unique Productions, to which he now provides riddims.

The artistes featured on the riddim include Elephant Man, Lisa Hype, Black Rhyno, Deva Bratt, Gaza Slim, Gaza Kym and Sheba.

Richardson said that So Unique Productions chooses the artistes, and although this is not the first time Jamaican artistes have been featured on one of his riddims, it is the first time such popular names in the dancehall industry are included.

“This is something new and big…and now I will be working more with So Unique and provide them riddims. They have asked me for riddims for Black Rhyno and Stacious, and that’s what I’m working on right now,” he said.

The riddim also features local female dancehall artiste Cinnamon (Lady of Spice). The name of her song that will be featured is called ‘Your Man’, and Cinnamon said it was because of networking that she got in touch with So Unique Productions.

“They listened to my tracks on myspace and sent me the Blue Gem riddim to voice on, which I did a demo for and then eventually I recorded on it,” she said.

Cinnamon, whose real name is Deidria Delsol, said that she had worked with Richardson in the past, and with his riddim featuring Jamaican artistes he now has more opportunities of featuring other artistes from that island and getting his name out there.

Delsol said the Blue Gem Riddim compilation would be released by music producer Johnny Wonder of 21st Century and also on itunes sometime in June.

The artiste said she also has another single - ‘Overdrive’ - that she would release in the near future. She also noted that she has been doing a number of recordings and building her contacts in hopes of getting more of her music out there.

Delsol said that she sees herself as a dancehall artiste similar to Spice, Lady Saw and Ce’Cile, but is hoping to cross over in the American market with various types of music.
