BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – GYPTIAN is earmarked to headline tonight’s (May 28) start of the British Virgin Islands (BVI) Music Festival, which will end on the evening of Sunday, May 30.

The other artistes also scheduled for tonight’s show are WCK and BVI’s musical montage, which will be backed by Divine featuring Harella, Jalena and Aaron.

Coco Tea, Iyaz, and Nina Sky will headline the Saturday night’s event, which will again feature the BVI’s musical montage backed by Divine featuring Imo, Maccabee, Empress Ruth, Sister Joyce and Shine I.

The Sunday night lineup will be headlined by Fantasia, Spinners and Ghost of the UK. It will also include a ‘Mash the Runway Fashion Show’ and the BVI musical montage, which will this time be backed by Blue Essence, Kirk Adams and MBJ Baltimore.

According to the BVI News Online, the Public Relations Officer for the BVI Music Fest Committee, David Archer, stated at a press conference earlier this week that this weekend’s show would be a world-class event.

“The energy is high right now and we have gone through a lot of planning, not just for a British Virgin Islands music fest but for a world-class event,” the PRO said.

He said that the committee was satisfied with the line-up and they are offering the hottest artiste right now in the person of ‘Iyaz’.
Iyaz, who hails from the BVI, was discovered by Sean Kingston and signed to his TIME label. He had recently appeared on the Oprah Winfrey talk show.

“We also have Gyptian, whose song “Hold Yuh” is very hot right now not only in the Caribbean but in the US as well,” he said.

The committee has also added a new initiative to the festival – the BVI Music Festival Humanitarian Award - which will be presented to five persons or businesses that have contributed to the success of the annual event. The awards will be presented on Sunday night.
