BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - A young man’s flight to the Basseterre Police Station after he was attacked and stabbed may have saved him from the clutches of death.

At approximately 4:00 yesterday afternoon (May 28), SKNVibes received information of a large crowd gathering outside the Police Headquarters on Cayon Street. On enquiring, it was learnt that a young man who was stabbed had made his way to the Police Headquarters to report the matter.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that Jason Henderson of Keys Village was en route to a relative’s home in St. Peters and was stabbed while waiting to board a bus at College Street Ghaut.  Reports also suggest that Henderson had made his way to the Basseterre Police Station, and on arrival he entered the building but had shortly after exited.

An eyewitness told SKNVibes that when Henderson entered the building he was bleeding profusely and was told to go outside. He complied, took off his shirt, wrapped it around his wounded head and was then allowed to re-enter the police station. The eyewitness said shortly thereafter he again exited and sat at the entrance of the building.

The eyewitness’ account was unconfirmed but SKNVibes had observed a female member of the force washing blood off the entrance to the building.

However, this media house understands that a plain-clothes police officer sprang into action and took the young man to the Joseph N. France General Hospital in his transportation.

Investigations revealed that Henderson was stabbed in the chest and head and suffered a collapsed lung. He underwent surgery and is said to be in stable condition.

SKNVibes is yet to ascertain whether anyone is in custody in relation to this incident.

    Police investigations are ongoing.
