CaribWorldNews, LOS ANGELES, CA, BET may claim to serve the entire black market but neither reggae or reggaeton has not made it into a category for the annual awards.
For another year, sexy Grammy-winning Bajan singer Rihanna remains the lone Caribbean singer among the nominees for this year`s BET Awards. No Caribbean acts made it into the international category either.
The Rated R singer received three nominations for the 10th BET Awards including Best Female R&B Artist and Viewers Choice Award for `Hard.`
Her label executive, Jay-Z, led the pack with 5 nominations. The rapper got the nod for best male hip-hop artist, best collaboration (with Alicia Keys on `Empire State of Mind`) as well as two nominations in the video category (`Empire State of Mind` and `Run This Town` with Rihanna and Kanye West).
Justin Bieber was nominated for an award as best new artist. Rap newcomer Drake is also nominated in that category, as well as going up against Jay-Z in the best male hip-hop category.
Queen Latifah will host the awards on June 27 from 8 P.M. live from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.
