BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, June 2nd, 2010 (PAM Public Relations Office Press Release) - The Peoples Action Movement Political Leader Lindsay Grant and Deputy Political leader the Hon. Eugene Hamilton have both proclaimed that the 45 year old party is stronger than ever.

The People’s Action Movement MP Hamilton declared that his party is as strong as it has ever been. The Constituency#8 representative highlighted the  success at the polls on January 25th 2010 which was the date of the Nations General Elections held in the sixth year of a five year term. A term that was punctuated by the ruling governments continued and sustained efforts in gerrymandering constituency boundaries to retain political power and in the process violating the Constitution and further being found in contempt of court.

Hamilton went on to state that the success of his party at the polls was unprecedented like the 6 year term of the labour party .

"The labour party stayed in office for an unprecedented 6 years for a 5 year term. This unprecedented historic event was followed by the peoples Action Movement achieving the largest number of votes ever cast in its favor in a General Election,” said MP Hamilton. “Despite the widespread propagation of election offences by incumbent Parliamentary Representatives and/or their Agents, PAM increased its membership in Parliament and is highly favored to succeed in its petition in Constituency #4 which is rightfully the seat of our Party Leader Lindsay Grant,” Hamilton continued.

The party fielded eight candidates in an eleven constituency First Past the Post system of Government and most if not all observers and political analysts and pundits are all satisfied that the majority of resident voters voted for the Peoples Action Movements’ Agenda for Change.

Hamilton also commented on the recent issues that have been making the rounds on the local broadcast and print media concerning some of the candidates of the People’s Action Movement in the recently held General Elections.

“Recent publications have directed significant public discussion over Leadership issues and succession in PAM and further significant discussion has been pervasive as a result of conduct within the party that are being addressed vigorously,” said the first time Parlimentarian Hamilton. “The Governing Bodies of PAM recognize that such discussion have been driven primarily by a tissue of lies and propaganda,” Hamilton continued.

The rank and file of the People’s Action Movement and persons directly affected by the pervasive public discourse, pledge their unwavering support for the ideals and programs of the party and for the Leadership of all pursuing the Goal of forming the Government.

Party Leader Lindsay Grant further supported the view that the party is stronger than ever as it’s various groups along with the leadership have been fully engaged in vibrant, dynamic and productive discourse on various matters that continue to plague and pain the ordinary people of the country.

Grant said “The party which I am very proud to lead, the People’s Action Movement is stronger and more vibrant and dynamic than ever,” The Harvard trained lawyer continued, “ The party is now fully engaged in discussions on the tragedy we face because of the unprecedented National Debt which has precipitated the introduction of VAT which will have serious implications on the poor among us , Crime and its serious implications for our residents and the economy as a whole, Constitutional and Electoral Reform which are important aspects of true Democracy.”

Grant continued , “We remain and are ready to serve and prepared to govern so that Land would be available to ordinary persons at 99 cents per square foot; So that all duties and Consumption taxes on food would be removed; So that Universal Health care would be available for all; So that the monthly payments for NHC houses would be reduced by at least 25%. These are all measures that would bring relief to our citizens and we remain committed to pursuing and implementing those measures when a People’s Action Movement government is on church street which would be much sooner than later,”
