BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – ADDING colour to service is a running theme for telecommunications giant LIME and the company brightened the landscape of the St. Christopher Children’s Home with paint and plants last Friday (Jun. 4).

Following a morning session with members of the LIME regional operating board, about 90 staff members traded their formal office spaces for the chance to dig into real community work.

The staff painted the entire living and dining areas of the Children’s Home and transformed the yard space into a floral wonderland with trees and plants snaking the walkways. Even the outdoor seating areas got a facelift, and though the labour went on for hours, staff members were able to recline and socialize after completing the tiring task.

The initiative of colour and excitement comes just a few days after LIME reopened its Cayon Street flagship store, which underwent a major facelift to change the retail office into a modern and stylish space. According to LIME Corporate Communications Manager Laverne Caines, the project was designed to get staff out into the community at the beginning of the new financial year.

“It was part of an all-day road show where we were in session in the morning with three members of our regional operating board. They painted a picture of where the organization is going and even got the staff prepared for…the first quarter of this financial year.

“We’ve always been an organization that reaches out to the community. We have always been in and through the community but we think that this is a good time to reinvigorate our actions in the community….,” Caines told SKNVibes following the afternoon of community service.

St. Kitts-Nevis is the fifth stop in the regional road-show, but the work does not stop there. Over the next six months, according to Caines, LIME plans to roll out at least three major community activities as it continues to strengthen its corporate portfolio in community service.

The project is expected to have a positive impact not only on the children at the home, but also on the LIME staff sacrificing office hours to community service.

“Everybody felt that it put us on a high. The way it ended really had a great impact on the staff. Everybody canvassed the team members and people jumped on what they had to do and took pride in it. It was exactly what the team and the home needed,” Caines added.

As LIME maintains its record in community development and service, customers can anticipate similar community projects in the upcoming months.
