    Road Town, Tortola - The official birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will be celebrated in the Territory on Saturday, June 12 with a grand parade.

     

    Participants in the parade will include uniformed bodies, youth organisations, schools and service clubs. The Parade will be held on the Festival Grounds in Road Town.

     

    His Excellency the Governor David Pearey will inspect all units of the parade, following which there will be the march past, the hoisting of the Governor’s Standard and the Royal Salute given in honour of Her Majesty.

     

    Seven officers of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force will receive medals in honour of their years of service. Three officers will receive the Colonial Police Long Service Medal for 18-20 years of service, two officers will receive the First Clasp to the Police Long Service Medal for 25 years of service and two will receive the Second Clasp to Police Long Service Medal for 30 years of service.

     

    Music will be provided by the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College Jazz Band and the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force Band.

     

    The public is invited to attend the parade, which will begin at 5:00 p.m. Government is also inviting all those who have been honoured with medals to wear their decorations.
