Road Town, Tortola - New vehicle license plates for personally owned vehicles and business entities that currently carry PV plates are now available at the Vehicle Licensing Department.

The department has introduced several new series of license plates bearing the prefixes of PA thru PZ and number designations from one to 100 in compliance with the road traffic regulations 2009.

The series of plates began circulating yesterday and will replace PV plates for all new registrations.

“In order to address the space issue with the current PV plate and to regularize the plate numbering with the actual number of vehicles on the road we have decided to implement this new system,” Deputy Permanent Secretary Mrs. Myrna Ferdinand told the Department of Information and Public Relations.

Mrs. Ferdinand further stated that vehicles currently carrying a PV plate can continue to do so however the option to change to the new plate is also being extended to those owners at the cost of the plate.

The road traffic regulations were approved by Cabinet on June 10, 2009 and became effective on August 31, of the same year.
