CHARLESTOWN, Nevis - A new high was achieved in female cricket in Nevis on Thursday night-10th June, when two half centuries were struck on the same night.

In match one played between champions St.James’ and GT United, St.James’  batted first and  led by an impressive partnership between Captain Judy Morton and Junella Burke went on to score 125 for 2 in their allotted 12 overs.

Morton slammed a round fifty which included four massive sixes and Junella Burke also played an aggressive hand to be 48 not out at the end. The GT team also gifted 20 extras.

GT in response could only muster 48 for 9 in their 12 overs at the crease with Casey top scoring with 11 and extras contributing a healthy 28.

In match two which was billed to be the thriller between the two Gingerland teams-Super Rockers and Empire, Empire batted first and scored freely to get to 136 for 3 from 12 overs.

They were led by the exciting Rozel Liburd who for the second time for the season, just tore mercilessly into the bowling.  She was 67 not out at the close. Catherine Joseph scored 31 and Charmaine Walters 12.

Super Rockers started threateningly getting to 31 for 1 from 4 overs but eventually slowed up badly to be 76 for only 2 wickets from their 12 overs. Blondina Griffin top scored with 28 not out and Sherilyn Smithen scored 10.
