Newsflash! Newsflash! Newsflash! St. Kitts has consulate in gated community!

Dr. Charles Warner
By: Dr. Charles Warner, PAM Public Relations Office

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, June 14, 2010 (PAM Public Relations Office) - The present term of office promises to be one of the worst, if not the worst for the people of St. Kitts.  An incompetent Prime Minister will be caught up in a number of questionable events which will take his attention away from the state’s business.  The Prime Minister will be “focused” on his own business – be very embattled, fighting for his own survival.

The Prime Minister has recently spoken of one issue cropping up when one appears to have settled.  This is the exact experience of the people of the Federation.  After the shock of LEX CONSULTANCY LLC case the news of the shady business in the region of Forth and Central Streets.  Some time before the people heard of the Prime Minister leading a delegation to ESTONIA LICHENSTEIN etc, centres of the Russian mafia, the new havens of dark money.  The people heard the Prime Minister speak of establishing diplomatic relations with such places.  They have no cultural or historical links with our people.  These five? WHAT IS THE ATTENTION?

One week the people heard that the governments of St. Kitts and St. Vincent are the most CORRUPT in the region.  Before our people could recover came the news of the consulate on VANCOUVER ISLAND, another of the Far-Away PLACES.  Usually diplomatic outposts one established in regions where many of the specific country’s citizen live.  There is a diplomatic outpost in Toronto where many Kittitian and Nevisians live.  The distance between Toronto and St. Kitts is less than that between Toronto and Vancouver Island.

The reason why many Kittitians do not know of Vancouver Island is simply because there are few, if any Kittitians living there.  More disturbing is the blatant fact that the Labour government did not inform Kittitians that St. Kitts has a consulate in this part of Canada where salmon roam.  The joke on the street is that St. Kitts has an elaborate, expensive salmon-hunting lodge on Vancouver Island.

The people of this country are treated so disdainfully that a search on the government website does not give a comprehensive picture of the location of Consulates, Embassies, etc.  Kittitians do not even know of the character of the people who represent them and on whose building our flag is flown.  Mr. CURSHEN proved to be the classic example.  One morning the people discovered that this man with a shady character and who was honorary consul to Costa Rica, was needed by the RCMP and had past convictions.  These are the friends of Dr. Douglas, the kind of friends that can be found in ESTONIA and LICHENSTEIN.

In the case of ESTONIA and LICHTENSTEIN the question arises; who will such outposts represent.  Reports indicate that there is ONE Kittitian in ESTONIA and ONE NEVISIAN in LICHTENSTEIN.  Add these two to the number in the delegation (Douglas is ten man in one) it will be shown that that is the history of mankind ten (10) citizens have not passed through (never mind live) in Estonia and Lichtenstein.  Kittitians knew of FACEBOOK AND IPODS before they knew of these places.

This raises the concern who is Mr. AXELROD representing or is he doing his own business?  Owing to his diplomatic status he can bring in his rare items from any part of the world and enjoy the privileges granted to such people.  St. Kitts could be sending this man millions of dollars.  Where or to whom is this money going?  Apparently he is not a Canadian citizen so by international law he can have full diplomatic immunity.

This raises an important issue.  According to Erasmus Williams Mr. Axelrod is an Economic Citizen.  Are we comfortable with such persons leading our diplomatic outposts?  Much is made of the politician who carries a foreign passport and his loyalty of allegiance.  Which master would such persons serve in the case of an issue involving St. Kitts and their home country?

The case of LEROY PARIS must be considered.  Is he still honorary Consul to Barbados?  Mr. Paris is/was one of the big boys in CLICO which got caught up in the insurance and other business that got into trouble because of greed and carelessness.  Because of links with CL Financial our people suffered a great lot.  While Denzil Douglas and Cedric Liburd were blaming Eugene Hamilton who was at a low level in the organization people like Leroy Paris, Dupree et al remained friends of this Labour government.  It seems as if a number of our diplomatic positions are subject to abuse and questionable activities.

According to reports this consulate does business by FAX, TELEPHONE, E-MAIL.  The search of the government site did not reveal any of this information.  ARE THESE NUMBERS PRIVATE or ONLY FOR THE PRIVILEGED?

St. Kitts is UNIQUE!  The Prime Minister is UNIQUE!  The Taiwanese, Cubans, Venezuelans all seem to have more respect for our people than our own government.  They have their embassies and missions either on Main Street or almost in the ghetto.  A Kittitian can “ketch” a bus or “beg a lift” and get to any of them.  In Canada St. Kitts has a consulate in a GATED COMMUNITY with security tighter than Shortshirt’s ‘Lucinda’.  Even when Kittitians go to Barbados for a visa the US Embassy is just down in Bridgetown.

After getting to British Columbia it takes a two hour boat ride to get to Vancouver Island.  A few Kittitians might even feel that they have to leave the boat and buy or cut a key in order to get into the gate.

The key could very well be colour and any one of us black cruffy skin Kittitians may end up hearing the key being turned on us.
