BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – DUANE THOMPSON, lead vocalist of Green House Band, is without a doubt one of the most talented singers in the twin-island Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.
His vocal ability, and the fact that he can bring across any style of genre and make it his own, is highly commendable.
SKNVibes had a sample of Green House’s musical talents, which is led by the gifted Jazzique Chiverton, at the Spice Mill Restaurant on Sunday, June 13.
It was an afternoon of soothing music that went well with the breathtaking view of Nevis at the Cockleshell Beach, and also the delicious food and beverages served at the Spice Mill Restaurant.
And at the venue, the talents of Thompson and Chiverton were seen by many. Chiverton, who plays the keyboards, can lead into Coldplay’s ‘Yellow’, John Legend’s ‘Ordinary People’ and even to a hit by popular Reggae crooner Beres Hammond; while
Thompson follows effortlessly, impressing the crowd every time. One man remarked to Chiverton, “I’m gonna call you Centrum…you can play anything from A to Z.”
The band is now gearing up to release its debut album. Culture Love will be released on Sunday, June 20 (Father’s Day) at the Spice Mill Restaurant; and the launch will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
One may wonder what form of music is on the album. However, one needs not worry because Chiverton said it has a whole lot of original music in Reggae, Jazz, Rock, R&B, Pop and Country.
In a past interview, Chiverton said the album would feature predominantly love songs, hence the title. “The songs were written from a West Indian perspective on love,” he added.
Nu Vybes lead singer Gregory ‘Mr. Mention’ Hobson will also be featured on a track on the album, titled ‘Prayer for the Ghetto Youth’.
The album will be published by ED Records and distributed by iTunes and various other outlets. The band consists of four members – Chiverton, who is the founder, band leader and lead keyboardist; Melbert Pemberton, who plays the bass guitar; Todd Pemberton, who plays drums; and lead vocalist Dwayne ‘Siven’ Thompson.
Plans are also on the front burner in the production of the band’s first music video.
